Requirements
- Legal blindness
- According to the American Foundation for the Blind, "Legal blindness is a level of vision loss that has been legally defined to determine eligibility for benefits. The clinical diagnosis refers to a central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with the best possible correction, and/or a visual field of 20 degrees or less. Often, people who are diagnosed with legal blindness still have some useable vision."
- U.S. Citizenship
- Currently registered as a full-time student in undergraduate or graduate studies.
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA
- Attending an accredited college or university in the U.S.
For Consideration, Applicants Must Provide
- Complete online application (below)
- Upload financial budget for student
- Upload doctor's note of legal blindness dated in the last year
- Written essay that includes: background, achievements, educational goals, and life goals
- Recent photo
- Three (3) letters of recommendation dated in the last six months (non-family members only). Examples of acceptable letters include: paraeducator, guidance counselor, teacher, principal, or pastor.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship (Required if you are awarded a scholarship)
